Stan Chapman, Founder
Stan is a graduate of Drake High School in San Anselmo and served in the Navy as a Carpenter in Naval Construction Battalion 10, the SeaBees. After serving on the West Coast, Okanawa and in the Philippines Stan left the service and enrolled at the College of Marin before transfering to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he earned a degree in Architectural Engineering.
After college Stan worked as an engineer and superintendent for the Gordon Ball Company and Dillingham Corporation on projects such as the widening of 680 in the Bay Area and the construction of Warm Springs Dam, creating Lake Sonoma in Healdsburg, California.
Stan got his contractor’s license in 1981 and officially opened Chapman Construction three years later. Stan worked as Contractor, Foreman and Carpenter for many years as he built the company’s reputation. Eventually he was able to step back and work solely as a Contractor, leaving the running of his crews to trusted employees.
Today Stan is semi-retired, helping in the office and offering advice when he and his wife Carole aren’t traveling across the United States in their 5th wheel trailer.”
“Scott, you were honest with us about the challenges in our project but said you could overcome them and you did. We appreciate all you’ve done to bring our vision to life.”

Scott rose through the ranks, becoming first a Lead Carpenter then Foreman, Superintendent and then General Superintendent.
Scott has been running the day-to-day operations of Chapman Construction for a decade, handling bidding, customer relations, project management and when he can, working in the field as a carpenter.
Scott has two teenage sons, Jon (17) and Noah (15). Both boys work for their dad on holidays, weekends and vacations, just like their dad did.”
“Scott, your crew is great and working with you has been wonderful beyond our expectations. Thank you for all your hard work.” ~ Dr. Tom M.

From Water Damage to Kitchen Remodel
This two-story, single family dwelling suffered major water damage when the home’s sprinkler system malfunctioned while the Owners were out of town, flooding the home. Chapman Construction was recommended by friends of the Owners to repair the water damaged portions of the home. This grew to a total kitchen remodel.
The kitchen, while large, was divided from the living room by a solid wall and from the dining room by a partial wall. The owners wanted an open floor plan, allowing the kitchen to integrate better with the living room and dining room.
Chapman Construction removed the dividing walls, replacing a structural post at the corner of the kitchen with a reclaimed beam from a local barn. The kitchen island cabinets were updated and remodeled as needed to relocate the oven/range and hood. A raised bar was built allowing for seating on the living and dining room sides of the counters. Waterfall countertops flow from the bar top to the countertop and to the floor at each end of the island. Reclaimed wood cladding under the bar top and a farmhouse sink finished the kitchen’s new look.
“Scott, you were honest with us about the challenges in our project but said you could overcome them and you did. We appreciate all you’ve done to bring our vision to life.”

Rising from the Ashes
In 2014, 15 and 16 Chapman Construction did a complete remodel of a ranch style home in the Sonoma Valley. Completed over three phases while the owners lived in the home, the final look of the interior was contemporary, while the exterior kept its ranch style lines.
Then, in 2018 the home along with its neighbors was destroyed by a wildfire. Chapman Construction was hired again, but this time to build the contemporary home the Owner’s had always wanted.
Featuring a custom kitchen, large windows providing natural light in every room, a pool and outdoor kitchen/entertainment area and sleek modern lines, the completed home stood head and shoulders above its predecessor.
Built using the most up to date fire suppression and resistance technology, the new home is designed to survive the next fire as well as earthquakes or anything else mother nature can throw at it.
A New Life in the
Dry Creek Valley
When the Owners first saw this home their realtor told them it would be a mistake to buy. But they saw the potential. Situated on 4 acres of vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley, the home was utilitarian, sparse and in need of updating.
Chapman Construction was hired to remodel the home, adding square footage, reworking the floor plan to make it more modern and open and to turn the drab areas around the house into an entertaining space to be envied. The Owners made several changes mid-project. We worked with them to keep costs down and and work on schedule while adjusting to the changes.
New doors, windows, bathrooms and kitchen as well as fully updated electrical brough the home into the 21st century. A new pool, covered entertainment area and outdoor kitchen made the exterior every bit as luxurious as the interior
